Gibson Associates Completes Broad Institute Labs

Gibson Associates is proud to announce the completion of The Broad Institute's new laboratories at 7 Cambridge Center. Broad Institute, an educational research collaboration involving the medical and academic communities of MIT, Harvard, and Whitehead Institute, is in large part the result of generous endowments provided by Los Angeles-based philanthropists Eli and Edythe Broad. The Institute is dedicated to the advancement of genomics in medicine.

Located just beyond Kendall Square, the 230,000 square foot Cambridge facility is the design of Boston-based Elkus Manfredi Architects, with project construction management by John Moriarty & Associates, Inc of Winchester, MA.

The open floor plan labs feature Hamilton brand MAX/Lab® table systems, Nautilus® overhead service carriers and Regency® maple casework accented by white phenolic resin work surfaces. In addition, Gibson Associates also supplied and installed approximately 100 Concept® high-efficiency fume hoods throughout the project.

'Ghost corridors' outlining the central lab areas are illuminated by floor-to-ceiling glass panels that admit sunlight from all sides. Throughout the building are additional research labs utilizing Hamilton-brand stainless steel reagent shelving, stainless steel cabinets and work surfaces.

The new facility will provide a technically advanced educational research platform for which both Gibson Associates and Thermo Scientific are pleased and honored to have played a significant role.
